Plain and simple - Jewish terrorism. arrest the @!$%#ers, throw the key as far away as possible.
Not surprising it's happening under the (not so) watchful eyes of Ehud Barak, Bibi.

Livni blames PM for radicalization wave
Opposition Chairwoman Livni , on her part, accused Netanyahu of creating the recent wave of radicalization. "Settler violence is another stage in the radicalization that Israel is experiencing with the approval of the Netanyahu administration, whether it be direct or indirect."

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday instructed the security forces to take a firm hand against those who hurt IDF soldiers and commanders after settlers pelted the vehicle of a brigade commander and raided an army base in the West Bank on Monday night. "This warrants harsh condemnation. The security forces must be focused on protecting Israeli citizens and not on such intolerable violations of the law," he said.
Almost too little, too late. better sort it out, though, Bibi.

Speaking to the Ephraim Brigade commander, Yesha Council head Danny Dayan slammed the rioters' behavior.
"As the head of the Yesha Council but no less importantly as a resident of the sector you oversee I know how dedicated you, your commanders and soldiers are for our safety. What happened last night is wrong, shameful and ungrateful. The perpetrators must turn themselves in and failing that must be apprehended and prosecuted," Dayan said.

"Opposition Chairwoman Livni , on her part, accused Netanyahu of creating the recent wave of radicalization"
Livni's right, except it's not recent. These settlers and ulta-National groups have been out of control for quite a while. Lieberman defends and encourages them. These groups have been saying for years that they will not allow any peace, or any land swaps for peace, and will step up their attacks to include Israeli citizens and government officials. They better start taking the threats seriously, and start giving these criminals real jail time, not just a fine. The bad thing, a lot of them are American citizens with dual citizenship.
"Netanyahu on Tuesday instructed the security forces to take a firm hand against those who hurt IDF soldiers and commanders"
Bibi, shouldn't you also take a firm hand when they attack the Palestinians on a daily basis? The same groups who attack the IDF are the same groups who burn crops, vandalize mosques, attack children walking to school, and beat elderly farmers.
If his only concern is for the IDF, shouldn't they of started to take a firm hand years ago when these criminals threw acid in the faces of IDF soldiers? There have been plenty of reports and warnings for years that their numbers are growing, as well as the number of criminal acts they commit.

Isabella,
These settlers and ulta-National groups have been out of control for quite a while.
This group is different, much more radical than what we've seen before. I'm not sure it's the same people, but perhaps some are. it's enough to see the harsh response from the head of the Yesha council to understand that they've taken it to new levels, parting ways from their own people as well now. granted, I said it before, but I think this time they've crossed yet another line. I can only hope the Government, IDF, Police, Shin Bet sort it out asap.
Bibi, shouldn't you also take a firm hand when they attack the Palestinians on a daily basis? T
The whole thing is @!$%#ed up. Palestinians, IDF alike taking @!$%# from those @!$%#ers. I don't envy the kids stationed there right now. and while all that is going on, Bibi, Abbas cant find a way to get into the same room, talk.

Sadly, secular, mainstream Israelis are caught between the settlers with their violence against authority and terroristic price-tag activities and groups like the Sicarii terrorists and other Haredi, Ultra-Orthodox violence.
The time to stop these groups was when they first started becoming violent. It's still not too late, however, but Israel has to overcome its apparent reluctance to arrest Israeli Jews.

This is not the first time this has happened and continues to be put under the rug. Settlers are supported by the government to commit violence encouraged to displace Palestinins and build illegal settlements.

That's it?
No arrests? No charges? No gas canisters aimed to the head?

No arrests? No charges?
Head of Yesha council was quiet clear about it

and so far, nothing has happened. Wonder if we'll see the night raides that the IDF so frequently does when "looking" for Palestinians.

Hmmmmmm. I wonder what Rick Santorum thinks of that? After all, every inch of the West Bank is already Israeli, according to him.

How many more deluded, dreamers of a greater Israel, American politicians you still got there?? even in our parts not many left...

I'm annoyed, actually. I've been reading the Israeli press relgiously (no pun intended) for four days to find an Israeli/Jewish response to Gingrich. Tzipi or Barak or that new Labor Party leader need to step up and slam these Republican idiots, not for Obama's sake but for Security reasons.

All too busy with their own domestic fights, problems. commenting on the debates not high on any priority list, right now. couple of hard-liners were happy to agree with the general tone of the comments. best I could find was this -
However Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev said the minister Landau was speaking for himself and did not represent official government policy. He added the government would not comment on the statements because they were part of an “internal American political campaign.”
In any case, I wouldn't be surprised if Barak will be a Likudnick in the next elections. hence, cant expect much on that front, for sure.

Let me be more explicit. These @!$%#wad Republican @!$%#ing lunatic @!$%#wads are impacting Israeli domestic politics, not to mention Israeli internal security.
You don't think the roughly 50/50 chance of a PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA soon sharing their fundamentalist lunatic vision isn't affecting either their self-image or their tactics and strategy?
To be honest, I think Bibi himself needs to slam these Republican @!$%#wads and get them to back off publicly, but I don't think he's statesman enough to do it.

Jack,

Well, as of today, topic of this seed represents a much bigger threat, might have a much bigger impact on our domestic politics. Tzipi will take her chances focusing on that, avoid sticking her nose into Newt's @!$%#storm.
but I don't think he's statesman enough to do it.
Pathetic isn't it? not much of a leader either. but he might win Survivor one day...

Catching up on a bit of NYT (and Thomas Friedman), I see ;)
and you're both right (this time).
however, focus of our guys is elsewhere (for the time being) -
IDF soldiers should have shot rioting Jewish extrimists, MK says
Israeli soldiers should have shot right-wing rioters while they assaulted army personnel, Labor MK and former Defense Minister Benjamin Ben-Eliezer said on Wednesday.
"What happened yesterday is terror, pure and simple, terror," the former minister said, adding: "I don't differentiate between Jew and Arab when someone's trying to kill you."
Opposition Leader and Kadiman chairperson Tzipi Livni also referred to recent attacks, saying that there was a direct link "between the exclusion of women from the public sphere and assaults on army officers and the burning down of mosques."
"This is an ideological wave that wishes to institute a different country here with a world view that forces something that is unrelated to a Jewish tradition on a secular majority," Livni said, adding: "This is nothing less than a struggle for the nation's character sponsored by [Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu's silence."

Settler violence? I'm shocked. I thought the Jews were the victims not the aggressors... This makes me rethink my unquestioning and undying support for Israeli Colonialism and Settlement Expansion as the realization of Zionist values

Thanks for the seed IDFeb, while I may not agree with everything you say, you are the most honest and impartial seeder on either side of this conflict. Most only seed things that make their position look good, or the other weak; while you seed on both sides as the facts unfold. And you moderate you seeds impartially and I respect that, and you.
