The bus was carrying children from a kindergarten in the Shuafat refugee camp on their way to a field trip to a park near Ramallah.
Yaniv, an emergency services paramedic, said that three of the dead were removed from the burning vehicles.
“This is a very serious accident. The place looks like a battle field. The cars were in pieces and two went up in flames. The death of three was confirmed at the scene. The rest of the wounded have been taken to hospital,” Yaniv said
Terrible accident.

moshawn,
Your effort to inject hints of politics into this tragic event is duly noted, unappreciated. in particular, and due the fact that as we speak, some of the injured are being transferred from the Hospital in Ramallah to Hadassah-Hospital in Jerusalem.

Buzz,
Speaking of which..just saw Ismail Haniyeh on t.v in some-kind of a news conference..and I quote - "this might have been an intentional accident, a massacre. we must investigate it to the fullest."

Unbelievable. I think any person with at least one functioning brain cell sees this for what this is: a tragic accident

Thank you for posting this article ID. I haven't read the news in a few days. My heart jumped when I first read the headlines, it could of just as easily been the kids from the center, they take numerous field trips. My condolences to the families of dead and injured.
I was reading the comments on the bottom of the Haaretz article, and seriously, I don't know what is wrong with people anymore. What difference does it make if the driver of the truck was Jewish or Arab? It makes absolutely none. It was a tragic accident, so why do some want to turn it into another point the finger at each other. What a shame that people can't get past their hate and just come together over a tragedy like this.

Isabella,
it could of just as easily been the kids from the center
It crossed my mind when first reports of it came out this morning, and upon hearing the area they were from.
so why do some want to turn it into another point the finger at each other.
At times, and at its current state (of the peace process), it seems that's what this conflict comes down to - pointing fingers, and not much else. efforts to resolve it took a back sit a while ago, remain as is for now.
It was a tragic accident
It was. first reports, though, indicate the bus may have been over crowded (still preliminary). I hope they investigate the whole thing thoroughly. horrible result demands it.

Those were my thoughts too Isabella and I was disgusted. For some reason the pictures from those kids at the centre and their gifts came to mind. They were children like them.
ID keep us posted, especiallky if there's no F/U in the news.

Maria,
I'll post updates if and/or when they become available.

You're right Maria, this story hit me hard because of the kids at the center. I see their faces in the faces of those poor babies who died and were injured in that accident. It could of been them in that bus.
Ah, you picked up your box at the post office from the center. I was afraid it might of been returned since you were in Brazil when it arrived. I hope you enjoy their gifts.
ID, I wouldn't doubt if those buses were over crowded, that's normal there.

This appears to be the most recent update on the investigation. It is good to see the Israelis and Palestinians cooperating in the investigation and in dealing with the injured. What has been determined so far as the cause does appear to contradict the unwarranted accusation by Ismail Haniyeh
